New York, NY- This past Wednesday Urban Girl Magazine headed out to Korea Town and tried the newest sensation in sushi, the Koshe Poke bowl at their blogger food tasting.

Koshe stands for kosher and poke stands for diced meat.

According to this restaurant these koshe poke bowls are all the rave in Hawaii, and in LA and that on any given day you could find the line wrapped around the corner by lunch goers in restaurants that sell koshe poke.

I was eager to see what the hype was about. My initial reaction to the bowl was that it reminded me of the  burrito bowl from Chipotle but instead it contains sushi ingredients, instead of taco fillings. We stood in a short line and when greeted at the counter was handed a menus.

You were able to literally build your own bowl. You’d pick your base of either rice or quinoa, then on to a protein either tuna, tofu or etc, you can then pick up to 6 add ins and those being corn, mango, onions, cucumber or etc., you then choose a sauce, toppings, and lastly crispies and those consisted of dried noodles, nuts or etc.

I chose white rice, salmon, egg, mango, avacado, craisins,  wasabii sauce, cashews and dried noodles. My bowl was indeed filling, and I was stuffed half way through eating it.

Overall I would say if you’re into sushi this is definitely a fresh take on the traditional sushi roll. This unique way of building your bowl allows you to make a one of a kind meal for your self.

To try Koshe Poke their website is www.kosepoke.com  and they’re located at 43 West 34th Street in New York
