A Salt n Peppa Biopic Might be Coming to a Theater Near You | Urban Girl Mag
ver the past few years we've seen hip hop based biopics take over the box offices like crazy. From Straight Outta Compton, to Notorious and this summer TuPac's biopic All Eyez on Me will be debuting. The men in hip hop have gotten their fair share of biopics. But what about the women? Salt n Peppa are in talks with the iconic female movie director Ava DuVernay. In a recent interview Cheryl James, who's better known as 'Salt' told the reporter “There’s actually been a conversation with Ava DuVernay so we’ve got some interest over there. She’s really trailblazing right now as a director. She’s deep. She made that Netflix documentary, 13th, which I think everyone should see.” Salt also went on to explain the inception of the group which is more than likely what the film will be centered around,“We were friends before and even Hurby, our producer, was my boyfriend. So this all came from relationships that came together and made a group … We’ve triumphed through all the misogyny in hip-hop and maintained our success.”
