Newark, NJ- The national pandemic of the Coronavirus has everyone staying home. For all of our safety our social lives have been put on hold until further notice. Four brown girls from Newark were determined not to let this pandemic impact their sense of enjoyment too much

While adjusting to this temporary new way of life Lauren Craig (Brown Girls Bar Crawl) came up with the idea of hosting a virtual ladies only pajama party. As she mulled over the idea while doing so she introduced the virtual party possibility to a few of Newark’s fellow creative women, Marcy DePina (Dj and podcast host and owner of FORSA Media Group), Lynette Lashawn (Off The Hanger, Stylist and fashion and decor studio owner), and Desiree Hadley (blogger and owner of Urbangirlmag.com). After a few zoom meetings of hashing out details the virtual pj party was created.

The women reached out to their social circles and invited women from different cities, states and even countries to be apart. The beauty of hosting a virtual event for them during this time is that not only are you able to have people attend from other countries but everyone is home with nothing to do, so the outcome would be even greater.

The party took place on Saturday, May 2nd and garnered a turn out of over 30 attendees. Women joined from the comfort of their homes, in their pjs with the anticipation of having fun and escaping the mundane of their reality of the pandmic. They engaged in girl talk, won prizes, and danced to live music provided by DJ Marcy DePina.
