My Soul Cycle Experiecne

New York, NY- This past Saturday I attended a Soul Cycle class at their Union Square location. This was my first class and I couldn’t be more excited. I heard that the classes were similar to spinning but there was an extra element. Soul cycle incorporated the soul some how in their cycling sessions. I was excited about the experience.

I attended the 2 pm class led by Elias. The interesting thing about Soul Cycle is that it’s required that you wear their shoes which clip into the bike’s pedals which makes it challenging to just release your feet from the pedals or from the bike itself.

After putting on my shoes and choosing my seat, I was nervously ready to get started. The lights were cut off, candles were lit, and fast paced hip hop music began to play.

As the music played the lights went up when it was time to do a rep of exercises on the bike while pedaling.

We had to follow the instructor’s lead. We were pedaling and pedaling and I’m trying my best to keep up because this was no beginner’s level class, but I was a first timer and was trying my best to keep up! And I did! I count not quitting as not giving up even if I didn’t complete every single rep.  was proud to say I didn’t stop pedaling not once during my soul cycle class.

Because of the fast pace and intense level the class lasted 45 minutes. At the end of the class we stretched and Elias ended the session by encouraging us to do something that would make us happy by eating something yummy or enjoying an activity that would positively feed our souls.

Overall I think Soul Cycle gives a cool twist to traditional cycling with the addition of up to date hip hop and pop tunes, along with the element of candles and finishing off the class with a positive message. It’s a cute class, an intense workout, and overall a great exercise session. My legs are still sore!
