“Who burnt down the damn salon?! We all would like to know that after season finale of season two ended horribly last season.  But everyone thought Cotton, Carlotta’s daughter died in the house fire that night when she was in the bathtub and her stalker Omar tried to kill her.  Apparently she escaped, thank God!

The new season started off with a bang as usual with a very sexy performance by GiGi (Keke Palmer) “Wind Up” All black, fish net stockings and everything.  The party seemed to be lit from head to toe.  Star, Alex and Simone at the club all booed up having a great time.

BAM! It was all a dream when Star sees something that got her in panic mood.

Carlotta comes home from the hospital and almost looses it when she sees “God’s Blessing” (the salon/house) ruined from the fire.  But Fox has a serious twist to the plot as everyone thought Cotton was dead, but when she comes out of the house, it sure is a blessing!  Major work has to be done to get the salon back and running again.  The insurance company, fire marshals and police are down her back as Carlotta (Queen Latifah) becomes a prime suspect of arson as her name is the only one on the insurance.  Money becomes an issue, but as always Ms. Carlotta always comes through with her hustle and flow and positive attitude.

New Beginnings…

Through all the pain and drama, the group, now called Take 3 deals with some of their own personal struggles while trying to focus on new music and getting on the radio for marketing purposes.  Alex got a taste of Noah’s chocolate (Wolf James) Alex was definitely feeling Noah and even though she already had a boyfriend, Derek (Quincy), it didn’t stop there.  Do you think it was Derek’s disablilty with his wheelchair that made Alex explore new flavor since Derek wasn’t able to go that many places?  Whatever it was, it has got Alex wide open.  While at one of the showcases from last season, Noah popped up in Alex’s dressing room and they began making out……almost having sex.  But what stopped them was Derek’s suspicious ways that led him wheeling into the dressing room where he caught Alex and Noah all booed up and all.  Who wants their boyfriend catching her all over another man like that? Dang Alex!  The relationship went pretty much downhill after that moment. Alex was feeling really guilty and caught red-handed.  In this season she tries to apologize to Derek when she goes to their place she was staying at begging and pleading to Derek hoping they would push past it and start over.  But when you have been hurt that many times and cheating basically with another man, it’s pretty much over.  So they are officially through and there is nothing Alex can do but stay strong and deal with it.  Of course she still has to pretend to be Noah’s girlfriend for radio play and promotions, which she truly hates.  I think Noah is enjoying every moment of it.

Simone on the other hand is battling a depression problem in which is feels like she needs her pills to function.  She is dealing with the loss of her friend Karen that died in the house fire at the salon.  That’s another issue that Carlotta has to deal with because it is now considered a homicide.  Depression ain’t no joke and when you loose someone you are close to, it can be hard to deal with.  Keep your head up Simone!

I love how STAR has special appearances by celebrity guests, so guess who joins the cast of STAR for the new season? It’s Brandy Norwood playing Cassie, Carlotta’s sister and the one and only Patta LaBelle! Yasss!!!  Cassie has a whole lot of personality and Patti as well.  Cotton was the one who called them to come and visit.  Ms. Patti on the other hand keeps telling Carlotta that she needs to tears down the shop because she doesn’t have the money.  But you how how Carlotta’s mind goes.  It was her dream and she will do her best to repair the damage.  She finally sits down with Cotton and she shows her the bruise marks on her neck.  Of course Cotton denies that it wasn’t Omar and nothing didn’t happen.  How long is Cotton able to keep the secret and what really happened the night of the fire? Secrets and more secrets!

Now let’s get to the juicy part of the episode.  While at a showcase where Noah is performing, Alex finally confesses about her and Noah making out in the dressing room and almost having sex until Derek rolled in there catching them both.  Then Star confesses that her and Noah messing around for some months now.  So the love triangle is real as both Star and Alex gets a taste of Noah.  They both riding on Noah’s Arc.  During Noah’s performance, he steps off state heading towards both Alex and Star.  They both are feeling some type of way about the whole situation now that Star let the cat out the bag.  Both ladies spending intimate moments with Noah.

The episode ends with Take 3 stopping on the side of a road so Simone can spray paint “RIP Karen, A Super Star” on a brick wall to celebrate her.  Then they all hear their song on the radio and are really excited that their hard work is finally paying off….thanks to Noah for the radio hook-up!
