With the medical usage of weed now being legal in all U.S. states except 4 (Idaho, South Dakota, Kansas and Nebraska) many of these states are pushing for the legalization of recreational usage. As it currently stands recreational marijuana is only legal in 9 U.S. states and the capital. These states are Maine, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Washington D.C., Hawaii, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

Scientific research has found that there are numerous benefits to marijuana usage. Some being the improvement of lung capacity, helping with glaucoma, it may help to control epileptic seizures, helps to stimulate appetites after chemotherapy usage, decreases anxiety, relieves arthritis, helps relieve menstrual cramps, helps with depression, it’s an alternative treatment to headaches, and many other benefits.

Although recreational cannabis usage is only legal in 9 states and the the capital of the U.S it is still illegal under federal laws. There is a fight that is currently happening as marijuana usage supporters are trying to have these laws changed in order to open the recreational marijuana usage up to everyone without the threat of it being considered a federal crime.
