Big Night for UWFF – The RZA, Misty Copeland, Benny Boom and Many others
Various industry notables attended the 27th Annual Urbanworld International Film Festival yesterday evening for Day 3 of the five-day event. Festival ambassador The RZA and Gerald Barclay – co-directors of the documentary A Wu-Tang Experience: Live from Red Rocks Amphitheatre – were on hand to present their film and participate in a post-screening Q&A moderated by writer Thembisa Mshaka.
Misty Copeland, Nelson George and Leyla Fayyaz – producers of the experimental short “Flower” – attended on behalf of their film as well as retired astronaut Leland Melvin (The Space Race), Benny Boom (“A Love Letter to Hip Hop”), Apolline Traore (Sira), and Thembi L. Banks (Young. Wild. Free.).
Earlier that day, the Innovation Summit took place at the School of Visual Arts’ SocDoc campus and featured a series of discussions that revolved around the intersection of technology and storytelling.
