Newark, NJ- Yesterday Black Girls Rock was recorded at NJPAC in Newark, NJ. If you were tuned in to the Urban Girl Magazine snap chat &/or IG stories then you were there for the experience. The show this year is hosted by Newark native Queen Latifah. Honorees this year include Mary j. Blige, Janet Jackson,  Judith Jamison, Naomi Campbell, Lena Waithe, and Tarana Burke. The one and only Janet Jackson received the ‘Rock Star’ award presented to her by Ciara.

There will be an epic tribute to the late Aretha Franklin presented with performances by Jazmine Sullivan, Cynthia, Erivo, Yolanda Adams, Ledisi, and others. Of course to see this, and all of the many other black girls who rock you’ll have to tune into BET on Sunday September 9th at 8 pm.
