Gabrielle Union Shows Love to Local Newark Businesses While Filming Netflix Movie
It is no secret to residents of Newark, NJ that they’ve had a special guest in town since mid June. Gabrielle Union is Executive Producing and starring in the upcoming Netflix film based on the 2016 book written by Tia Williams ‘A Perfect Find’. The book chronicles the story of a 40 year old woman risking everything for a secret romance. Newark, NJ, Jersey City, Brooklyn and a number of other east coast cities were the ‘Perfect Find’ when choosing the location for this Netflix film.
Newark has seen its number of big picture projects. ‘The Joker‘ – 2019, The Equalizer– 2021, Batman The Dark Knight– 2012, just to name a few. This is one rare instance where the Lead Actress and Executive Producer takes part in the culture and patronizes local businesses all while sharing their experience with their followers on social media.
By Gabrielle sharing her experiences here in Newark to her 18+million followers she will likely help to keep these small businesses afloat following an international pandemic. Due to the mandatory closures of ‘non essential’ businesses many local businesses suffered extreme financial loss.
If you follow Gabrielle on IG then you’re aware of her visiting the unique Closet Savvy Consignment located at 37 Maiden Lane in Newark. Union posted her shopping experience in real time to her instagram’s story. Closet Savvy reposted the video to their store’s IG account, which will likely translate to new customers in coming weeks. Watch the video below, and get into how flawless Ms. Gabrielle looks on a rainy day in Newark. Just Beautiful !
The support didn’t stop there the Actress/Producer posted a video to her TikTok account of the gifts she received from the artists and business owners located on Halsey Street in Newark. She then reposted it to her IG account and tagged Every.. Single.. Business. This is what support looks like, Union is not only talking but ‘walking the walk’. While on set of her film she posted photos wearing her custom denim shorts from Closet Savvy Consignment.
The support still didn’t stop there, nope. Gabrielle’s husband Dwayne Wade posted to his IG story his meal from a local Newark based soul food restaurant, Cornbread. Dwayne even tagged the business and showed so much love, the restaurant reposted his support to their IG. Watch the video on facebook below.
In short Newark, NJ is happy to have had Gabrielle film her upcoming movie in the largest city in NJ.I’m sure the local businesses are all eternally grateful for the fact that she took time out of your day to patronize, recognize, and help to promote what they had to offer. #SupportBlackBusinesses.
