Sammie’s Newest Album Proves that his Career will be ‘Everlasting’
New York- Last Tuesday Urban Girl Mag attended a private listening party at a NYC penthouse for r&b artist Sammie. The intimate setting allowed for select individuals to preview his come back album entitled ‘Everlasting’.
Many of us remember Sammie from our childhood middle school days when he was the cute preteen singing “I Like it”, “You Should be My Girl” and many other love songs. He was in my CD rotation along with Mario, B2K, and many others. That was back in 1999 and the early 200’s.

Let’s fast forward to 2016 when the world was reacquainted with his soulful voice and gentle demeanor when the ever popular The Shade Room re-posted a video of him singing ‘I’m Him’ to their IG account. It was then Sammie claims his career was resurrected.

During his listening party he was inspiring with his ability to be transparent about his 7 years of struggling before he was reintroduced into the music industry. “Seven years of struggling but the last 3 years of winning…What if I would’ve stopped in my 6th year? What if I didn’t sing ‘I’m Him’ on instagram 3 years ago?’ “And I never would’ve thought that a post on The Shade Room would’ve been the thing that brought me back… That’s why I’m here to tell you I waited 7 long years of treading water and now I’m able to swim freely, and you’re not exempt I’m no better than you”.

.
“…The reason why it’s no pun intended ‘Everlasting’ I don’t think I’ll ever go back to broke I don’t think I’ll ever go back to depression because I’ve already seen the worst of days. I’ve overcome it by being legitimately myself and humble” – Sammie went on to say.
.
His new album which dropped last Friday features a number of songs and it definitely has something for everyone. There are a few love songs, a song with a Caribbean vibe, a song dedicated to his father who he thought he’d loose a few years ago during his battle to pancreatic cancer which he fought and is now in remission.

We all gathered in the candle lit penthouse listening to Sammie personally go through each song while giving background on each track. Sammie proclaimed he writes every song he sings and could clearly prove this by accompanying each song with a short story. From what I could hear ‘Everlasting’ is a beautiful ‘come back’ for an amazing artist. You can download and stream Everlasting via all streaming music services.
