As news has been revealed of the passing of Charlie Murphy, who’s the older brother of Eddie Murphy many were waiting for an official statement from the comedian/actor. Since Eddie doesn’t utilize many social media platforms it was difficult to track his initial response to the tragic loss.
According to TMZ Eddie and Charlie Murphy’s family released the official statement below.
“Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie. Charlie filled our family with love and laughter and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed,” Eddie said, speaking for the family.
He also thanked Charlie’s fans for their “outpouring of condolences and prayers.”
