The chips continue to fall for hip hop mogul, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. Amid CNN’s exclusive release of the disturbing 2016 video of Diddy physically assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Diddy released an apology video via his instagram account yesterday which alluded to an apology to Cassie but he never directly addressed the apology to her by stating her name. Mayor Eric Adams spoke to Pix 11 news to reveal that his team is reviewing the possibility of rescinding Diddy’s key to New York City. The key was issued to the hip hop mogul in 2023 the year of Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary. Combs was honored on September 15th of last year in recognition of the release of his first studio album in 17 years entitles ‘The LOVE Album: Off the Grid’. Adams congratulated Combs by publicly stating “The bad boy of entertainment is getting the key to the city from the bad boy in politics.”
Adams is now singing a different tune following the public video of Diddy violently assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie. Just last month Mayor Adams released new initiatives aimed at protecting victims of domestic violence. As it currently stands Diddy’s abuse allegations do not align with Mayor Adams’s views on domestic violence. During his interview with Pix 11 Adams stated “…the committee and the team ahs never rescinded a key before but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps moving forward will be…we are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back to me with a final determination.”
If Mayor Adams decides to rescind Diddy’s key to New York City this would by the city’s first time doing so.
