Georgia just might see their first black woman governor soon. At least that is what some are hoping after Stacey Abrams won the Democratic primaries in Georgia’s state election yesterday. Abrams has already made history by becoming the first black woman to receive this victory. Abrams stated in an interview with CNN prior to winning that …”as an African-American woman, I will be doing something no one else has done.”

The republican side of the election could result in a run-off since none of the 6 candidates received a majority of the votes. The run-off is scheduled for July 24th and that will decide who will run against Abrams for Governor of the state of Georgia.
