Met Gala Red Carpet | Urban Girl Mag
This year the Met Gala Red Carpet was the best it's been in awhile. With the theme of Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination the theme is easily translatable and easy to follow the theme.  The exhibit celebrates and questions the long history the Catholic religion and fashion have, and this event is different than most the attendees are encouraged to be dressed the theme of the exhibit. There are those who dress to the theme modestly, those who go to the extreme, and those whom rebel. This event is considered the party of the year on the East Coast, it is a black-tie affair hosted by Anna Wintour and co-hosts to raise money for Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institue. This year's the co-hosts were Rihanna, Donatella Versace, and Amal Clooney. Typically the hosts lead the way in dressing for the theme.

Met Gala Red Carpet: Every look that gave us everything & more!

This year the Met Gala Red Carpet was defintiely fashionably fulfilling. The theme of Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination  is easily translatable.  The exhibit celebrates and questions the long history the Catholic religion and fashion have. Stars are expected to translate the fashion found in the Catholic church on the red carpet.

Take it to the Extreme

Every year, fashion addicts watch this red carpet in high hopes of seeing what looks will walk up the famous Met Steps. There are those who never disappoint such has this year’s co-host Rihanna (remember that infamous 2016 look) or Sarah Jessica Parker. Well, these two ladies have been giving us “YASSS” vibes since Monday nights gala! Katy Perry rolled up in a Rolls Royce looking legit like an Arc-Angel that could have stepped out of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet.

All red carpet looks combined covered each part of the Catholic references from the altar to the Pope. By far the best of those on theme were Rihanna, Blake Lively, Zendaya, SJP, and Chadwick Boseman, and Ariana Grande. See all these looks below and more:

Modestly On Theme

.

These are the looks that were a nod to the theme. These individuals gave very touches of the costume theme within their looks. Still feeling the Queenly & Kingly vibes of those, such as Donald Glover, JLo, P. Diddy & Cassidy. These people were encouraged enough to at least throw on a cross, halo or more. And for that,  their effort deserves some appreciation. See all the best of the modest outfits below:

Rebels that still got it right

,

The best part of the Metgala carpet is always to see how people translate the theme into their gowns and tuxedos. However, sometimes, you get a rebel’s take, for instance, Elle Fanning in 2015, she wore a Cinderella look that was a stark contrast to Rihanna’s actual Comme Des Garcon outfit. Point aside, take a look at our favorite stunning but not on theme looks from the “heavenly” carpet.

The amount of looks to see from Monday’s carpet astounding. Some great honorable mentions would be Eva Chen, Kate Moss, Bee Shaffer, and a few more. Let us know your favorites and what you think either in comments below or on social media!
