New Jersey Black Girl Beach Day returns for 5th Year Anniversary celebration on August 21st,
2021 at the historical Chicken Bone Beach in Atlantic City, NJ.
The meet-up of melanated girlfriends has soared in popularity, amassing over 7500+ attendees since it’s debut
in 2014. Initially aimed at providing a safe space for community and conversation, the event has since evolved to a day-long program rich with engaging activities promoting wellness and sisterhood while shifting the narratives surrounding women of color enjoying the outdoors. Each year the team brings awareness to the importance of inclusion, safe spaces, ethnic skin care, environmental love and mindfulness while promoting wellness and in our communities.
“The purpose since the first event has always been to provide welcomed spaces for women of color to connect
and grow community with one another” says Founder of Germany Lancaster. “We are committed to providing a
platform that encourages women to share stories, and create deeper connections that thereby benefit our
community,” In addition to wellness, the BGDB event helps dispels false narratives around Black Women
outdoors while promoting more diversity in related areas through their digital platform. ie. “Black Girls Surf Too”
a conversation in partnership with BGBD.
