Urban Girl’s Verizon Holiday House Experience
Tribeca, New York- As we’re all winding down from our high from our Halloween candy binge and haunted house experiences Urban Girl Magazine had the opportunity to quickly switch gears just in time for the holidays. Mommy May aka Esmay Richmond and myself attended the Verizon Holiday House located inside of the Verizon corporate offices in NYC. The Verizon Holiday House was filled with fellow NYC media influencers. There was free flowing wine and cute finger food for us all to enjoy. (See npw pn snap chat)

The holiday house was a mock apartment immersed with smart technology features. There was a refrigerator with touch screen technology which gave you the capability to not only see what was inside without opening it but you could see what was in your fridge while you’re out on your weekly grocery store run via your smart phone application. The application would give a you a real time snap shot of your refrigerator. The fun didn’t stop there the Verizon Holiday House was sprinkled with google home devices. In case you’re wondering here’s how the google home device works: by simply saying a command like “Ok google turn on the tv”… the tv would turn on without requiring you to move an inch. Think the clapper x 100. There was also a live iPhone 10 for us to demo, shelves full of smart tech watches, mounted flat screen tvs and much more.

Actress Lavern Cox from Netflix’s hit series Orange is the New Black made a special guest appearance as well at the Verizon Holiday House.

The next device that caught our eye was the virtual reality Daydream View 2” by google. This device was awesome. This VR device literally transported you into a digital simulation where you felt as if you were inside of the game itself. We played a game that literally gave a 360 view of the experience. It seemed so real its a little spooky. *insert emoji side eye* For all of my iPhone users unfortunately this device only works with an android smart phone, but I would go so far as to say it might be worth getting an android for this experience.
