New York City- Tuesday evening Urban Girl Magazine attended Artist Republic Consultant Group’s presentation on Disruptive Innovation at Spotify.
The curators of the Artist Republic CG are Kentay Williams and Asantewaa Ricks.
Here’s a little background on the two once upon a time the duo were both employed on the corporate side of the music industry but after their departure the two continuously saw them selves still drawn to the music business. The duo decided to start a music artist consulting firm, and that’s how the Artist Republic Consulting Group came about.
The pair have worked with artist such as Usher, Elton John, Outkast and others. Their consulting company helped the management companies and record labels, of the above mentioned artist and others to build and execute campaigns based in emergent strategy.
The room at Spotify was filled with artist, press representatives, and managers, from the music industry all eager to make connections and to build on their knowledge of how to better execute disruptive innovation. Music Executive Kevin Liles was also in attendance.
The duo touched on many points but stressed that the 4 keys they wanted everyone to take away from the meeting was that the music business is made up of the following: Story telling, Enterprise, Disruptive innovation, and Strategy. To be a successful artist the aforementioned has to be in place.
Proceeding the conclusion of Kentay and Asantewaa’s presentation their Communications Director, Treavion Davenport presented Asantewaa with a ‘Shining Star’ award.
Guest were then encouraged to continue their conversation with Asantewaa and Kentay on the rooftop at Spotify.
This was a dope event in a room full of dope people.
