Jabari Banks to Play ‘The Fresh Prince’ in Show’s Reboot

The 90’s classic sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ is getting a re-boot! The show will be headlined by actor, entertainer and West Philly native Jabari Banks.

The news was announced on August 31st via Will Smith directly as he surprised Jabari with this life-changing news.

Peacock ordered 2 season of the show from the creator of the viral trailer video Morgan Cooper. His trailer was entitled ‘Bel-Air’ which debuted on youtube back in March 2019. The trailer was based on the 90’s sitcom sprinkled with a bit of realistic, urban flare.

Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air is a serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the 90’s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” that leans into the original premise: Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show. Watch the trailer that set off this possibility of a reboot below. There is no release date yet of the first season of the Bel-Air reboot.
