Teyana Alleges Iman was Jealous of her Success in Court Documents
Teyana Taylor filed for divorce from her husband, retired NBA player, Iman Shumpert in January of this year. Taylor intended to keep these documents private which is why she filed only using their initials. Privacy was eradicated once Iman filed using their full first and last names in his divorce proceedings.
In court documents, Taylor stated she was embarrassed and humiliated, and accused Shumpert of cruel treatment, narcissistic behavior and of being jealous of her career and fame throughout the majority of their marriage.
The actress decided to file for divorce because she was “unable to handle the emotional rollercoaster.”
Taylor said she intentionally dimmed her light as a way to appease her husband’s jealousy and anger, but it didn’t work.
Some of the actions that contributed to their marriage’s demise include, Shumpert crashing Taylor’s Rolls Royce then fled the scene in order to avoid a DUI arrest. She also cited a previous DUI arrest and an arrest of Shumpert in 2022 for weed possession in an airport.
The divorce documents alleges that Shumpert would get annoyed while out in public at events when he would be asked to step aside by photographers who were only interested in capturing photos of Uber popular star, Taylor. The documents also state Shumpert felt insecure about being good enough for her when he signed his $40 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015.
The courts documents state Shumpert would send Taylor condescending and manipulative texts and would pick fights with her for no reason. Shumpert pressured Taylor to turn down acting roles and music opportunities because he didn’t want her to work. After she complied and soon after giving birth to their daughters Shumpert would in turn complain about Taylor lack of financial contribution to their household.
Taylor said Shumpert “reacted with further cruel treatment and selfishness” when she tried to save their marriage.
Shumpert left their home in October of this year and hasn’t spent much time with their two daughters Junie 7 and Rue 3. Taylor is requesting temporary and permanent primary custody plus joint legal custody and child support from Shumpert.
Below find the September 17th IG post by Taylor stating the two have been separated for a while but were still good friends. She claimed in the below IG post that infidelity did not play a role in their divorce.
Taylor has responded via an IG story post stating that all of the information shared was taken from private court documents that were leaked to the public. She is requesting for her privacy at this time.
