It’s not everyday someone from your local hometown gets chosen to play in the Olympics. Ezinne Kalu-Phelps, from Newark,NJ is currently playing in the Tokyo Olympics on the women’s basketball team for Nigeria. Although Ezinne is from Newark she is playing on behalf of her native country of Nigeria. News of her Olympic debut has been making its rounds on the internet and although she’s playing for a different country, Newark, NJ natives are still excited to see one of their own competing yet again in the Olympics games. You might remember in the 2016 Olympic Games, Newark native Shakur Stevenson competed for the gold in boxing.
