One Person Dies After Developing Rare Blood Clot Disorder After Receiving the Johnson & Johnson Vaccine, Distribution of it Has Since Halted

As posted on the Urban Girl Mag IG page this morning the CDC and FDA halts all distribution of the Johnson & Johnson Covid19 vaccination. The vaccine has caused 6 people to develop a rare blood clot disorder which can be fatal. So far 6.8 million people have received the vaccine.

This news of stopping distribution was revealed via twitter after both organizations sent out a number of tweets explaining the urgency of stopping the administration of this vaccine. One tweet from the CDC read “CDC and FDA reviewing data involving six reported U.S. cases of a rare type of blood clot in individuals after receiving Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine”

The Acting Commissioner of the FDA, Janet Woodcock said the following about the situation “I’d like to stress these events appear to be extremely rare. However, covid-19 vaccine safety is a top priority for the federal government, and we take all reports of adverse events following vaccination very seriously.”

So far the blood clots were developed in women between the ages of 18-48 years of age and symptoms occurred between 6-13 days after the vaccination was given. So far one death has occurred and one other person is in critical condition.

The FDA tweeted “#COVID19 vaccine safety is a top priority for the federal government, and we take all reports of health problems following COVID-19 vaccination very seriously.” See full tweet below.

These specific blood clots have not been associated with the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines, which rely on a different technology, and those vaccinations are continuing.Read more tweets from the CDC and FDA below.
